APPG hosts cross-party consultation meeting on the new Development Review with Baroness Minouche Shafik

On 3rd December, the APPG hosted a cross-party consultation with Baroness Minouche Shafik, who is chairing the UK government’s Development Review.

Through this review, Baroness Minouche Shafik, former Permanent Secretary of the Department for International Development and Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, will consider how to maximise the UK’s combined diplomatic and development expertise in its international development work. The review is also looking at how we modernise the UK’s development offer in a rapidly changing global context and ensure the UK has the right capabilities to deliver for the future.

This was a private consultation session under Chatham House rules, and we were pleased that APPG members from across the House had the opportunity to join this session with Baroness Minouche Shafik about the forthcoming Development Review, which is now moving into Phase 2.

We’d like to thank Baroness Shafik for her time, and look forward to further engagement with the APPG as she continues to review the UK’s international development strategy going forward under the new Labour government.
