Inaugural meeting of the APPG for SDGs in the new Parliament

On Tuesday July 23rd, the APPG for the SDGs hosted its inaugural meeting of the new 2024 Parliament, welcoming some new and returning members, and electing its new officers.

The new officers will be as follows:

  • Chair - Jessica Toale, Labour MP for Bournemouth West

  • Co-Chair - Lord McConnell, Labour Peer

  • Vice-Chair - David Mundell, Conservative MP for Dumfresshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale

  • Vice-Chair - Lord Loomba, Cross-Bench Peer

We were also pleased to welcome several new MPs as members, meaning the APPG now has 46 MPs and 67 Peers amongst its membership. A full membership list can be found here: https://www.appg-globalgoals.org/members-1

In addition to electing new officers, the APPG also discussed its priorities for the year ahead, and a series of proposed events for the next Parliament. The APPG will continue to be supported by Bond, the network of UK NGOs, with Eden Kulig providing the secretariat.

We look forward to a busy and productive year for the APPG, and to engaging with the new government to champion the SDG agenda at home and abroad.
